The cost depends on the documents and work involved. We offer fixed fees for projects and monthly plans for ongoing help. Review the scope and fee before hiring us.
Request a quote for your matter. Our guide to fixed fees and monthly legal support explains how these options work.
Not every business needs to incorporate. You may operate as a sole proprietor, through a partnership or through a company, depending on your plans and legal requirements. Ownership, personal liability and future investment can affect your choice.
Discuss the legal structure with a lawyer and tax questions with your accountant.
Review the remaining lease term, renewal rights and extra charges. A personal guarantee can make you responsible for payments, so check its terms too. Confirm whether you need the landlord’s consent to transfer the lease and whether your planned use is allowed.
Review these points alongside the purchase agreement.
No. Disclosure provides information about the franchise; the agreement sets out your contractual rights and duties. Ontario law generally requires disclosure at least 14 days before signing or paying, subject to exceptions.
Review both before committing. Our guide compares the franchise agreement and disclosure document in more detail.
Do not assume the seller’s licence covers you as the new owner. Confirm the licensing steps with the City of Toronto before taking over. Review zoning, public health and any liquor licence requirements too.
Your purchase terms should address the approvals and lease consent the deal needs.
No. If your business qualifies as an MSB operating in Canada, you must register before operating. Online services can still fall within the rules.
Review the activities you offer, such as money transfers, currency exchange or virtual currency services. Registration does not replace ongoing compliance, recordkeeping and reporting duties.
Read the notice carefully and identify the response deadline. Keep your compliance records and earlier correspondence. Seek advice on what the notice requires before replying, since different notices call for different steps.
Our guide to a FINTRAC notice of intent to revoke explains that particular stage of the process.
